Listings. We crawl public dealer inventories (358 current listings across EMSCO, Electrical Trader, Transformer Exchange, and CTG Power Systems) weekly, normalize ratings, voltages, and condition from listing titles, and diff week over week. Prices are dealer asking prices at crawl time. Dealers who publish nothing are represented only when they expose public pages; if you're a dealer and want your inventory represented (or removed), contact the desk.
Reconciling the table and the report. The live table above counts only the continuously crawled dealer inventories. Issue #001 additionally cited a one-time manual sweep of six sources (144 line items), including gated venues (Surplus Record) and pages we could not then crawl — which is why its counts differ from the table's. As sources graduate from manual sweep to weekly crawler, the table absorbs them; each issue states its own basis. Coverage is four dealer inventories today, expanding — "every public listing" is the goal, not yet the claim.
Lead times. Compiled from manufacturer-published figures, Wood Mackenzie surveys, procurement-observed data (Terrapin CG), the VAWN index, and OEM earnings disclosures — each figure is dated and sourced in the weekly report. Where surveys and observed procurement diverge, we say so.
Prices. BLS Producer Price Index series PCU335311335311 via the BLS API, plus observed $/kVA computed from priced public listings (median across 159 units ≥100 kVA: $17.8/kVA).
Quote exchange. Reader-submitted OEM quotes are aggregated with a minimum cell size of three before publication; individual submissions are never shown or attributed.
Independence. Grid Desk is unaffiliated with any seller, OEM, or distributor and holds no inventory. When the desk brokers a transaction, that role is disclosed to both sides.
